Add your microchipped pet to the NZCAR for just $15
A microchipped and registered pet is 3 times more likely to get home when lost and will get home much quicker when found. In the 12 weeks following the 2011 quake the NZCAR dealt with over 25,000 phone calls and faxes and placed over 800 lost pet ads. Of the non-chipped pets we got 25% home within 3 days. Of the chipped and registered pets we got 85% home within 3 hours of being found.
How to register
To register your pet on the NZCAR you will need to know your pets microchip number. The microchip number is a 15 digit number and will be on your adoption or council registration papers. Once you have this click on the link below to go to the online registration form.
Please note: A registration on the NZCAR does NOT replace the need to ensure a dog is registered with your local Council.
PET OWNERS - If your pet is already on the NZCAR and you wish to report it missing, click here to update your contact details online. You can check if your pet is registered by using our "chip check" function in the sidebar.
VETS AND IMPLANTERS - If you are a vet clinic or other registered organisation do not use this form. Log in using your assigned username and password. USING THIS FORM WILL MEAN YOU ARE CHARGED THE FULL $15 FEE. We regret there are no refunds to clinics, spca's or other organisations mistakenly using this form.
How to Pay: Once you have registered, you will receive an email to prompt you for payment (this method is temporary until March 2021)
Bank Account: New Zealand Companion Animal Council
BNZ, Hamilton East
YOU MUST INCLUDE THE 6 DIGIT CODE SENT WITH THE EMAIL SO WE CAN TRACK YOUR DEPOSIT. Also use your surname and date of registration.
