National Pet Day Competition Terms and Conditions

These terms apply to the National Pet Day NZ Companion Animal Register (NZCAR) competition run by Companion Animals New Zealand. 

By participating in the competition, you agree to these terms and conditions. 

Competition Period 

The competition opens on 30 March 2026 (National Pet Day) and closes at 11:59pm on 30 April 2026. Entries received outside this period will not be eligible.  

How to Enter 

To enter the competition, participants must: 

  1. Log in to their NZ Companion Animal Register (NZCAR) account, and
  2. Tick the checkbox confirming they have checked that their contact details are up to date. 

Completing this action will provide one entry into the prize draw. 

Only one entry per person will be counted during the competition period. 

Prizes 

Prizes consist of: 

  • One (1) $500 Animates voucher, and 

  • Ten (10) $50 Animates vouchers. 

Prizes are not transferable, exchangeable, or redeemable for cash. 

If a prize becomes unavailable for reasons beyond NZCAR’s control, NZCAR reserves the right to substitute the prize with one of equal or greater value. 

Prizes (print gift card) must be delivered to a New Zealand address. 

Eligibility 

The competition is open to New Zealand residents aged 18 years or older who have an NZ Companion Animal Register account. 

Approved Users / organisation's accounts are not eligible (however Approved Users who also have their own guardian account can enter).

Limit of one entry per guardian account.

Employees of Companion Animals New Zealand and their immediate families may not be eligible to enter. 

Winner Selection 

Winners will be randomly drawn from all eligible entries after the competition closes. 

Each entrant can win only one prize. 

Winner Notification 

Winners will be contacted using the contact details recorded in their NZCAR account. 

If a winner cannot be contacted within seven (7) days, or is unable to accept the prize, the prize may be forfeited and another winner drawn. 

Privacy 

By participating, entrants acknowledge that NZCAR may use their account information for the purposes of administering the competition and contacting winners. 

Personal information will be handled in accordance with the Privacy Act 2020. 

Liability 

To the extent permitted by law, Companion Animals New Zealand and NZCAR will not be responsible for any loss, damage, or injury arising from participation in the competition or acceptance of any prize. 

NZCAR is not responsible for technical issues at the user’s end that may affect entry or access to NZCAR accounts. 

General 

NZCAR’s decisions regarding all aspects of the competition are final. 

NZCAR reserves the right to modify, suspend, or cancel the competition if necessary.
