National Pet Day 2026

Competition - update your details, tick the box and be in to win!

Saturday 11 April is National Pet Day - a chance to celebrate the animals who make our lives better every day. To mark the occasion, we’re asking pet guardians across New Zealand to take a moment to log in to the NZ Companion Animal Register and check that their contact details are up to date.

Everyone who confirms their details will go in the draw to win Animates vouchers:

🏆 1 x $500 Animates voucher
🎁 10 x $50 Animates vouchers

If your pet ever goes missing, their microchip can help reunite you - but only if your contact details are correct. Without up-to-date information linked to their microchip, you may not be able to be contacted. It’s a small action that can make a huge difference in bringing lost pets home.

It only takes a minute. Simply log in, make sure your details are current, then tick the new checkbox and hit save. 

Step by step:

  1. Log in to your account on animalregister.co.nz
  2. Click on 'Contact details'
  3. Check all your details are up to date
  4. Click the box which says 'I confirm that my contact details are up to date'
  5. Click 'Save changes' 
  6. You're in the draw to win!

 

How long do I have to do this?

You have until Thursday 30 April to tick the box and go in the draw!🐾

What happens when I log out - does that box stay checked?

No, the checkbox doesn't stay ticked the next time you log in. This is about measuring a point in time for our guardians' contact details. We want to get a good understanding of how many accounts have accurate information - as some of the calls we receive regarding lost pets are sadly ones about not having had details up to date! This might mean a guardian has moved house of changed phone number. So this is a great way to remind people to keep their information current, and have an incentive to do so - thanks to Animates!

How will the winners be contacted?

The winners will be contacted via their NZCAR account details and our support team will converse with you to find the appropriate time to post the physical vouchers to your address.

What else is happening for National Pet Day?

As you may well know, the NZCAR is part of the national charity - Companion Animals NZ - and we share welfare messaging in addition to our lost and found system and information.
