REMEMBER:
A microchip is only useful if it is registered to a database, and those registration details are kept up-to-date!
For dogs, there are two databases to consider - you can find more information here.
For all other species, the NZ Companion Animal Register is New Zealands nationwide lost and found microchip database.
*Breed specific databases are generally not used for lost and found purposes so likely will not help get your pet home if it goes missing.
*Vet clinic 'database' refers only to a vets internal management software. This is generally checked by a clinic if brought an animal but only useful if the animal is one of their existing clients so likely will not help get your pet home if it goes missing.
